He visited this restaurant for brunch. We ordered Shrimp & Crab Grits and Rasta Pasta. The grits were good but the shells in the lump crab hindered the satisfaction of gobbling that big bowl down lol. Their Rasta Pasta was on point, just perfect. It was so creamy, noodles cooked to protection, and so was the chicken & shrimps. It has a spicy kick to it. Still remember the burn and smacking but I couldn’t stop eating it lol. They do charge a gratuity for 2 people. Which was unexpected. Only thing is towards the end of our dining experience our waiter disappeared. We had to ask someone to grab him so that we could pay our bill. We thought he’d clocked out and went home. He told us that he was helping other guest downstairs. The music was a bit too loud upstairs as well. Overall, we had a good experience. I wish I’d ordered another plate of that Rasta Pasta to bring home. Keep up the good work Sapodilla’s.
Food was yum. Drinks were my favorite, best I’ve had in a while. Atmosphere was great, it was welcoming and relaxing. It was great customer service. Some of the food came out late but that’s alright we were deep in conversation. Overall great experience I would definitely go back.
I had the pleasure of trying the lamb sliders followed by the roasted Brussels sprouts, and both dishes exceeded expectations. The lamb sliders were so flavorful and tender, they disappeared before I could even snap a photo—truly a testament to how delicious they were. The Brussels sprouts were perfectly roasted, with a beautiful balance of crisp edges and tender centers. I requested bacon as an add-on, which elevated the dish with a smoky richness, while the roasted tomatoes added a subtle sweetness that complemented everything beautifully. A thoughtful, well-executed menu and a memorable dining experience. I’ll definitely be returning.
Food 10/10 Service 10/10 Drinks 10/10 Environment 10/10 We got the crispy Brussels and old bay fries to share, bomb. The sorreltini, rum punch and some hibiscus drink were all delicious. And the curry GOAT goodness so flavorful, seasoned very well and meat right off the bone. It comes with a special Roti but you can swap for rice and peas and cabbage. My friends got the chicken and shrimp Rasta pasta which they loved but said was also a bit on the sweeter side. The restaurant is two levels with bars on each level. Open space and great lighting. If they had outdoor seating that would take them over the top. Nonetheless, will definitely be returning.
This will probably be a new favorite spot for me! My friend and I stopped by for lunch to check out this new spot in Anacostia, right across the bridge and ended up having a great time. We really enjoyed the food and the overall vibe they've created. The space is beautiful; bright, open and spacious with plenty of room for dining. The large window let in a ton of natural light during the day which added to the relaxed atmosphere. There's a full bar on the first floor and although I didn't get a chance to check it out, I heard the upstairs area has a more lounge vibe. I absolutely love the vibe. It was chill and laid-back during lunch, but I can imagine it gets more lively during happy hour. Our service was pretty good and fast. It wasn't too crowded while we were there and our server attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. Now let's talk about the food. We had the rasta pasta with chicken, curry chicken and the jerk chicken sandwich. All were delicious, but the rasta pasta was the stand out for me. It had a ton of flavor and I couldn't' get enough of. We also had a few drinks (I unfortunately can't remember the names) and they were all good and refreshing. I will definitely be returning to explore more of the menu especially dinner and happy hour. Overall I loved Sapodilla's. The food was excellent and the space is lovely. My only suggestion would be to add a menu on the website so folks can get a sense of what to expect before visiting. Other than that I highly recommend. I'll definitely be back!
Sapodilla's is a Guyanese (caribbean) restaurant that has recently opened its DC location. It popped up in my IG feed, so the Mr. and I checked it out on Friday night. We are so happy that we did. Everything arrive promptly, was served by a sweet and attentive waitress, Joanie, and all in a lively atmosphere. With hip hop playing in the background and patrons openly enjoying themselves, this spot will definitely be in our rotation as the food did not disappoint. We got the jerk shrimp and salmon dish, hot honey shrimp, spinach, channa (chickpeas) and rum cake. We shared these items as we we were only slightly hungry. Everything was well-seasoned and savory. The rum cake was just ok (didn't taste homemade), but everything else was excellent. We also had some.tasty drinks. I had a carribean version of a whiskey sour, which was delicious and he he had their version of a rum punch, which was also very good...they were perfect drinks. We will he back!
A nice Guyanese restaurant in DC that offers Caribbean cuisine with a twist. The coco bread and roti were fresh. Food was well seasoned. The drinks are definitely tasty and strong. Everything was delicious. They have the upstairs downstairs, and you can rent off the section for parties or special events. Friendly, informative, and patient service.
Visited around 2:30pm on a Saturday afternoon. Didn’t have a reservation but the 2 of us were able to get a table immediately. Took awhile to get waited on because the waiter didn’t see us based on where our table was situated. After that service was okay. Friendly staff, food was tasty, nice portions. Food took around 20-25 to come out. I enjoyed the sauce on the omelette. Potatoes were nicely cooked and seasoned. I would go back to see how dinner is.
